Wandering: Store Sessions Byron Bay
Tucked in between mountains and sea, Byron Bay’s the lush landscape provides a stunning backdrop to a more laid back way of life. It has become the capital of boho chic in Australia, so our Byron Bay girls really do know their stuff! Store manager Dani Smith offers up her style tips as well as a little local knowledge of this hippie mecca.
When styling in your Tree Of Life store, what are your go-to styling tips?
1. In the cooler months it becomes so much easier to create beautiful texture and layers. Mix up textures by using one texture as a base and add a statement piece in another. A great example is layering our Velvet Bell bottoms, the Nepalese Velvet Janis top with the beautiful Indigo Rangoon Jacket. So simple, but so much yummy texture.
2. Create beautiful soft layers by draping serapes and Persian shawls over your look. Again these can create some beautiful textures but with a more floaty, relaxed effect.
3. Lastly to add an extra sparkle of beauty to your look embellish with some beautiful Bindis. Have fun with them, mix them up and play around with them, there is no wrong way! I love using them to frame the eyes.
What are your favourite cafes / bars / restaurants in the area?
Naked treaties would have to be one of our most frequented cafes in town. We are obsessed with Chai and have tried almost every single Chai in town and Naked Treaties has our top pick. I am pretty sure our Assistant Manager Tali lives there now. A very close second in town for favourite chai is ‘Spice’ a super cute, super little ‘hole in the wall’ style barista that just opened in town on Jonson St.
Lastly, The Northern is usually the best place in town to catch all the bands playing and meet up with friends.
What are some hidden treasures in your area?
I love all the street art in Byron at the moment! A friend of mine @nitsua has been sharing his amazing 70’s inspired artwork all over town. One of my favorites is the Ganesh collaboration with @artmnsta
I also love the Paddies lookout at the top of Paddington Street. It overlooks the beautiful Arkwal National park and Tallows beach and suddenly makes you feel surrounded by nature. It’s the perfect spot for watching the sun set and a full moon rise.
How do you relax in your suburb?
Some nights the whole town has a magical atmosphere where everyone is just so happy and friendly. I love that after work each day I can take in the vibrancy of town and enjoy listening to all the amazing musicians busking on almost each street corner or selling their artwork. Days off though are always spent wandering beach tracks to beautiful hidden beaches or exploring an isolated waterfall with friends.
