Tree of Life Blog: Henna Embellishment

Mehendi designs are an Eastern tradition using henna, a naturally derived plant-based powder, to create art on the skin. A group of creative souls gathered together in the dunes around Newcastle to showcase how beautiful mehndi designs can be used to accent parts of the body and special outfits for any occasion.

How to use henna:

Step 1: Clear skin from any oil and dirt

Step 2: Apply mehndi essential oil

Step 3: Paint henna on to skin in the desired design and allow paint to dry completely (around 20 min)

Step 4: Leave for anything from 1 to 6 hours depending on how deep you would like the colour

Step 5: Gentry scrape henna off and apply more mehndi oil with the help of a cotton pad
