Wandering: Morocco Magic
A little insight into a country that captivates your attention from the moment you arrive…Morocco. The best words I found to describe this incredible place, is mad but magic.
After spending our first night out in the peace and quiet of the Agafay desert, it was time to explore the wonderful chaos that is Marrakesh. A city that sure is a show stopper with a new surprise around every corner. A surprise which is almost always a treat for your eyes. Home of magic carpets, delicious mint tea, the hammam and many other market treasures, it’s easy to fall in love with this place and all that it has to offer. Most of our days were spent getting lost in the maze like Medina, wandering around the glowing pink walls and stocking up on Moroccan goodies before retreating back to the oasis of our beautiful riad to sip on more mint tea. It was the most bizarre contrast just from the passing of a door, a delightful one at that, I loved entering the madness but I loved escaping it too. Some of the best moments were spent up on the riad rooftop, enjoying the views whilst playing with the cute little house cats and listening to the call to prayer. Le Jardin Majorelle was another favourite spot , a place to escape, full of the most beautiful cacti. The Ben Youssef Madrasa is another site not to be missed which has some of the most stunning architecture from all of Marrakesh. For food we loved the vegetarian restaurants La Famille (amazing for healthy food) and Earth Cafe. Morocco, you really are special.
