Lisbon, oh, what a dream. The city that instantly sparked my love affair with Portugal. With every street walked down, each filled with the most beautiful coloured traditional buildings, I fell more and more in love. Bougainvillea spills over the already picturesque doorways and the streets are decorated with the colours of the rainbow.

This is a city with so much to admire. We spent most of our time walking, discovering each neighbourhood's own charm. We found bohemian rooftops bars, record stores with all the Brazilian music you could ask for, healthy veggie cafes (yes Portugal is on the raw treats game) and everything else you could want from a place. Come evening the streets would fill with pop up street bars to enjoy the summer festivities. It was wonderful, the perfect way to end the day trying out the local ginginha.

Following the calling of the ocean, we headed down to the Algarve coast for the rest of our time in Portugal, to a little town called Lagos. Here we found yet more delightful views, beaches deep in the cliffside looking out onto the most beautiful rock formations. Long walks with these views were just delightful. This is a lovely little place to retreat after a busy time in the city, we rented out a rustic little cottage, cooked our own food, relaxed and of course enjoyed Mother Nature at her finest.
