: Celebrating our Tribe Mamas

Strength, creativity, leadership, love – four traits embodied by some of our most inspiring Tribe Mamas.
To mark Mother’s Day, we sat down with Dayna, Lauren, Cathie and Sharon to meet the family.

Lauren Cordwell, National Retail Manager & first time Mama of Leo, 6 months.

Lauren, what is the best advice your Mama gave you that has stuck with you throughout the years?

Growing up my Mum always told my sister and I that she was there for us if we needed her. Because of this we’ve always had a strong relationship. My mum is my best friend.

What have you learnt from Leo so far?

That time is very precious, and passes quickly. Don’t be too busy to savour the special moments.

What are three things you can’t live without as a Mama?

Being a new Mum, my first answer is of course my son! I wake up excited every day to see his face and watch him grow. Also, I can’t live without nappies and my iPhone (I photograph him as often as I can!).

What are your favourite Mama outfits from the Gold Dust collection?

There’s so many! It’s way more fun to style outfits in Winter than it is in Summer. You get to play with layering and dress more for your mood. Maybe that’s why I’m in love with the Gulmahor Top and the Evangeline Dress – I like the romance and texture of these garments.

What are you up to for Mother’s Day?

This will be my first Mothers Day as a Mum! I’m looking forward to spending the day with my husband and my son. We’ll have a picnic on Sydney Harbour if the weather is nice

Cathie Taylor, Newtown Store Manager & Mama of Dex, 5.

What is the best advice your Mama gave you?

It’s too hard to choose just one thing! I tell her everything, She has always been there for advice over the years and a huge support for my son Dexter and I. She is a strong woman who has raised her girls right and I will always admire that.

What have you learnt from Dex?

Love! You learn a true, deep meaning of love. It’s indescribable! I’ve learnt so much about myself and my strengths and what I am truly capable of. I have also learnt a lot about superheroes.

What are three things you can’t live without as a Mama?

COFFEE! My phone, I can’t miss a photo opportunity, and pedicures (my escape time).

What are your favourite Mama outfits from the collection?

I am loving the velvet Taj pants. Our Auroville knits will always be an all time fav for me as they are so comfy and go with everything. Also, the French Rose Wrap Dress.

What are you doing for Mother’s Day?

A nice lunch with family and lots of cuddles from Dexter. I’m also going to book myself a massage and have a bath with lavender and salts! It’s so important to relax and recharge.

What is the best advice your Mama gave you?

The best advice from my Mum that has stuck with me through life is not so much in words but is the unconditional support and love she has given my sister and I. My Mum has been there through all the good times and the hard times, always so positive and reassuring. She is the Mother I want to be for my boys, she is my best friend and my Hero!

What have you learnt from your boys?

I have learnt that I am stronger than I thought, to laugh everyday, but mostly I have learnt a love that I could never have imagined.

What are three things you can’t live without as a Mama?

Hmmmm hard question, as I think I could live with out a lot of things…  but I would have to say hugs and smiles from my boys every morning when they wake up. Secondly, my work as it is a huge part of me,  my boys are super proud and think I am awesome because I am a boss and I have named clothes after them. Last of all, my daily phone call to my Mum!

What are your favourite Mama outfits from the collection?

Well this ones everyones favourite – the Alexa Dress, I own it in every colour, length and print and love it in winter with my boots. The slinky jumpsuit is always a winner but when I have days off you will most often see me in Jambalya pants. I’m loving the latest rust print ones with my new charcoal chenille jumper.

What are you doing for Mother’s Day?

I will be in Bali with my Mum and my boys, couldn’t get much better than that. I am sure there will be massages and cocktails for us Mums!

Sharon Jephson, Charlestown Store Manager & Nanny to Lucy, 5, and Hugo, 3.

What is the best advice your Mama gave you?

My mother’s greatest advice to me was to always treat people with respect, love and be happy in life doing what you love. But she also said a woman should know how to cook, sew and not let herself go after you get married. Lol…. that always cracked me up.

What have you learnt from your kids?

I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren and I’m not quite sure what they have taught me, but I do know that I didn’t really know love ’til I gave birth to my children. I suppose they have taught me patience too,  more then I thought I had at times.

What are three things you can’t live without as a Mama?

Three things I can’t live without as a mum are my children, my grandchildren and our family gatherings which are full of so much fun and laughter. I’m so very fortunate that I’m very close to my children and have a great relationship with them. They are my world.

What are your favourite Mama outfits from the collection?

Oh gosh, I love the Gold Dust Mama collection, I wasn’t sure what to buy first! I love velvet and bought the coffee velvet Romance Dress, the velvet Indigo Jumpsuit and, god, I love the Alexa Dress so I bought that too. The Romance Dress looks great open and over the jumpsuit, you can never have too much velvet.

What are you doing for Mother’s Day?

Breakfast with my son, his wife and my grandchildren. Lunch with my youngest son and his girlfriend. My mum is in hospital so I’ll visit her and then the night markets with my oldest son and his family. I love my children and being around them and I can’t imagine it any other way. My daughter is living in Canada at the moment so we will talk on the phone, I miss her loads.
