: Our Top 5 Sustainable Festival Tips for Splendour

Splendour has arrived! Before heading in for the adventure of a lifetime, brush up on your sustainable festival practices.

Here’s a few of our favourite tips, from eternal Tree Muse Natascha Elisa.

  1. Pack your own camping mug and clip it to your bag to use whenever you need to grab a drink.
  2. Save on plastic (and money) by preparing your own food and snacks before heading in. If you do eat out at vendors, request to use your own container.
  3. Take your own water bottle and clip it to your bag or get a cute water bottle sling.
  4. Think about what you are wearing. Many varieties of glitter, gemstones, feathers and sequins contain microplastics which can damage the environment you are in.
  5. Do your best to help keep your area clean and pick up rubbish where you see it.

*ZERO WASTE FESTIVAL TIPS BELOW!* I was having too much fun dancing to take any pictures at #fusionfestival this weekend, so thank you my friend @henrikalm for capturing this moment πŸ’› The festival had a rubbish disposal program of 10€ to anyone who returned a garbage bag full of garbage to help avoid rubbish being left on the ground. I thought this was a great idea however I had zero things to throw into the garbage bag but it felt better than getting 10€ back. Being #zerowaste at a music festival is easy! Here are some tips which will especially be useful for those of you joining me for #plasticfreejuly! 1. Bring a camping mug, clip it to your bag & use it when ever you get a drink, morning coffee, juice / what ever you fancy drinking… β˜•οΈ 🍺 🍸 πŸ₯€ 1. Prepare food / being your own snacks πŸ₯œπŸͺ🌯πŸ₯–πŸ₯¨πŸ₯‘πŸ₯’πŸπŸ‡πŸ“ 2. When you do get food from vendors, bring your own container instead of using their disposable ones (I just use my keep cup for this as it’s on me at all times anyway πŸ‘πŸΌ) 3. Refill your own water bottle (duhh!) Clip this to your bag, keep it in your backpack or get a water bottle sling. 4. Think about your festival attire, does it have sequins / feathers / gemstones / glitter – anything that will leave Microplastics in the environment that your in? If so, leave them at home! πŸ™…πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ 5. Don’t wear chemical lotions / use chemical shampoos etc if your festival has a lake or swimming in nature opportunities, go natural and think about the animals that will appreciate you not poisoning their environment πŸπŸ•ŠπŸ¦‹πŸŸπŸžπŸŒπŸ›πŸ¦ŽπŸ’ 6. Do your best to help clean up, grab plastics or cigarette butts when you see them & dispose of them responsibly. (On that note if you’re a smoker, bring a little container – can be an old mint / gum container / film canister – and use it as an ash tray for your butts, keep them in your pocket till you find a bin. Enjoyyyyy be safe drink lots of water & remember with a little effort you can be #zerowaste or #plasticfree anywhere!
